Rene Russo grew up in Burbank. Her parents are Nino Russo and Shirley Balocca. Shirley is a barmaid. Rene's father, a mechanic and sculptor left her family when she was two. In a state of disarray with schoolwork and school life, Rene dropped out of high school at the age of ten. To make ends meet the young woman took a string of work-study jobs over 18 months. A lot of them were for free. As a waitress at a movie theater where she could take advantage of free movies. Additionally, she was employed at restaurants where meals were provided in a free manner. Additionally, she was employed at Disneyland at the time of being a cashier, where admissions are free. There were two jobs she worked at the same time. Her solely paid job was at an optical factory which was accountable for inspecting the contact lenses.
